Silicon Solar & Sidney High School's Partnership Makes Headlines
Silicon Solar's partnership with Sidney High School - the company recently donated a SunMaxx Thermosyphon Solar Hot Water System, which it manufactures, to the school - has caught the attention of the New York Media.
Mark Boshnack, Staff Writer for the Daily Star, the daily newspaper from nearby Oneonta, NY, recently wrote an article outlining and applauding both Silicon Solar and Sidney High School for their combined efforts to educate the next generation about the realities of Solar and Renewable Energy.
Boshnack writes, " Thanks to equipment donated by Silicon Solar of Bainbridge, students are learning how to use an on-demand solar hot water system. Some students learned how to put the unit together while others tested the efficiency of solar heating and finding it impressive.
By using the equipment, students will learn about how solar power can help with sustainable living, said biology teacher Todd Paternoster, who originally contacted the company about the system.
He was working Tuesday with 11th-grade environmental science teacher Jay Waltz."
Mr. Paternoster is set to retire from Sidney High School in June, opting to work full time with Silicon Solar on developing a national eduacational platform for educating high school and college students on the benefits and real world applications of solar energy.
