SunMaxx Solar Completes Solar Thermal Installation at Northern Arizona University (NAU)
avwFm87mDz2011-12-29T11:49:59+00:00Binghamton, NY USA (December 29, 2011) – SunMaxx Solar, a leading, vertically integrated manufacturer of solar thermal systems and components, is pleased to announce a solar thermal installation at Northern Arizona University earlier this year. The project, which was designed and installed by Cannon Design and Mortenson Construction, encompasses over 5,300 square feet of SunMaxx ThermoPower VHP-30 evacuated tube collectors. 102 individual collectors provide a domestic hot water system for the University's new Health and Learning Center. This center, formally the NAU Recreation Center, was remodeled in 2011, creating the NAU Health and Learning Center. The newly remodeled facility includes an indoor jogging track, 38 foot climbing wall, larger weight room, multi-purpose gym and cardio theatre. It also includes all on-campus medical services that were previously housed at another location on campus. The new solar thermal system was installed and commissioned during the Summer of 2011. “IMCOR – Interstate Mechanical Corp. maintained the highest quality standards during their installation,” states Grant Talcik, SunMaxx Solar Engineer. NAU is located in Flagstaff, Arizona and its campus rests on approximately 740 acres. The solar thermal system was installed to reduce the energy footprint of the building, and in turn, the University is seeking LEED Gold certification (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design – an Internationally recognized green building certification system). SunMaxx Solar will continue to work across the country on a variety of large scale and small scale commercial solar thermal systems. In addition to completing solar thermal systems for Universities, SunMaxx also provides mobile training labels, training curriculum and equipment donations for Universities and schools around the country. “One of the most impressive evacuated tube installations in the country!”, says SunMaxx's CEO, Adam Farrell. SunMaxx Solar aims to build a sustainable future for our global community. In today’s energy consuming world, SunMaxx offers world-class solar energy and renewable products, striving to meet the increasing need for alternative energy sources.

avwFm87mDz2011-12-22T22:06:55+00:00Binghamton, NY USA (December 22, 2011) – SunMaxx Solar, a leading, vertically integrated manufacturer of solar thermal systems and components, is pleased to announce the installation of a solar thermal system at Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas. The project was conducted in conjunction with Johnson Controls and Intelligent Green Solutions. A total of 93 TitanPowerPlus SU2 series flat plate collectors were installed across five buildings, in addition to solar pumping stations and storage tanks. Each building was also outfitted with a custom ballasted drain‐back mounting system designed specifically for the US Military. This solar thermal system was installed for a domestic hot water heating system, which will pre‐heat water for five of Fort Hood’s dining facilities as well as a large pool collector installation. The system was completely installed and commissioned during the Summer of 2011. “SunMaxx Solar enjoyed working together with both Intelligent Green Solutions and Johnson Controls to ensure a successful installation,” said Ed Gunn, Sales Manager at SunMaxx Solar. “SunMaxx Solar will continue to provide turnkey solutions for various military bases across the country, including upcoming projects at Moody Air Force Base and Fort Bragg.” Fort Hood is the world’s largest military base and covers a total of 340 square miles in central Texas. The system was installed as part of an energy conservation program to help reduce Fort Hood’s carbon foot print. This was also a pilot study to see the effectiveness of using solar thermal on their base. “It’s rewarding to see that we are starting to take measures towards implementing a renewable energy strategy at US Military bases!” said Adam Farrell, SunMaxx Solar’s President and CEO. SunMaxx Solar aims to build a sustainable future for our global community.
