avwFm87mDz2011-02-15T22:01:37+00:00Thanks to an upgraded performance rating from the SRCC, purchasing a SunMaxx solar thermal hot water heating system just became more affordable for California state residents. The SunMaxx ButlerMaxx prepackaged solar hot water heating kit has long been an industry standard as a turnkey solution for heating hot water in residential applications. ButlerMaxx prepackaged kits utilize an innovative design which enables them to be adapted to virtually any pre-existing hot water heating system with a storage tank. Designed by Barry Butler, PhD, chair of the American Solar Energy Society’s Solar Thermal Division, the components of the system created a new standard for streamlined turnkey system design. When installed with SunMaxx evacuated tube collectors, this package set the bar for solar hot water systems, both in terms of heat output and ease of installation. Many state rebate and incentive programs, such as those available in Arizona and New Jersey, require that solar hot water heating systems be OG-300 certified in order to qualify for any rebates or incentives. However, some states, such as California, also require a minimum performance rating in order to qualify. California residents and those in other states can now receive the maximum rebate from these programs thanks to an upgraded performance rating for the SunMaxx ButlerMaxx prepackaged solar hot water kit. This means that not only is the ButlerMaxx prepackaged kit one of the highest rated solar thermal systems in the industry, but also just became one of the most affordable. Customers purchasing a ButlerMaxx prepackaged kit can now benefit from a significantly smaller investment in a SunMaxx solar thermal system, a reduced payback model, and yet not sacrifice quality or system performance.
SunMaxx Solar Wins Contract for Solar Thermal Installation at Fort Hood, TX Military Base
avwFm87mDz2011-02-15T22:00:48+00:00SunMaxx Solar announced today the company will soon be starting a large solar thermal system installation in the United States at the Fort Hood military base in Texas. Located approximately 60 miles from the state capital of Austin, Fort Hood covers a total of 340-square miles and supports multiple units, a corps headquarters and a robust mobilization mission. The installation is tentatively scheduled to be completed by early spring 2011, and will include six solar thermal hot water heating systems to meet the domestic hot water needs of six different buildings on the base. The systems will incorporate a total of 198 SunMaxx TitanPower Plus-SU2 flat plate solar collectors, one of the highest rated flat plate solar collectors in the industry, and will provide 30-50 percent of the energy necessary to meet the domestic hot water load. System efficiency is expected to be 60-80 percent, and will reduce carbon emissions by a significant amount annually. The system will be installed by Intelligent Green Solutions (IGS), an authorized SunMaxx solar thermal installer located in Ithaca, New York. IGS is central New York’s premier solar thermal installer and energy efficiency consultant. For more information about IGS, you can visit them online athttp://www.intelligentgreensolutions.com. Beacon Housing Authority to Improve Energy Efficiency with SunMaxx Solar
avwFm87mDz2011-02-15T21:59:54+00:00Energy-efficient improvements are on tap for two Beacon Housing Authority (BHA) developments, thanks to federal stimulus funds totaling $735,000 provided from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act through a competitive grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Ron Traudt, the housing authority's executive director, said the money will be used for improvements in the Hamilton Fish Plaza and Forrestal Heights housing complexes. BHA manages 245 public housing apartments and provides Section 8 rental assistance to over 300 families living in their jurisdiction. "We are very proud of being able to make energy-saving improvements," he said. Residents who pay their own utilities will realize savings as well, Traudt said. A SunMaxx solar thermal domestic hot water heating system comprised of 30 SunMaxx TitanPower Plus-SU2 flat plate collectors will be installed in each housing complex. It is estimated that each system will handle 41 percent of the necessary energy load required for heating hot water in each building. The installation for the Hamilton Fish Plaza is scheduled for completion by the end of this year. Late spring is the targeted completion date for the Forrestal Heights location. The system will be installed by Intelligent Green Solutions (IGS), an authorized SunMaxx solar thermal installer located in Ithaca, New York. IGS is central New York’s premier solar thermal installer and energy efficiency consultant. For more information about IGS, you can visit them online at http://www.intelligentgreensolutions.com. SunMaxx Solar CEO Adam Farrell to be Guest Judge at Global Student Entrepreneur Awards
avwFm87mDz2011-02-15T21:58:37+00:00
November 12, 2010 As the premier global competition for undergraduate students, the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards inspire students to adopt entrepreneurial endeavors by bringing global visibility to student business owners who are innovative, profitable and socially responsible. As an Entrepreneurs’ Organization program, the GSEA operates as a global series of competitions for student entrepreneurs who are attending a recognized high school, college or university, own a for-profit business, are principally responsible for its operation and have been generating revenue for a minimum of six consecutive months. This year’s competition will take place on November 17-19 at the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation Center in Kansas City, Missouri, in conjunction with Global Entrepreneurship Week. SunMaxx Solar CEO, Adam Farrell is no stranger to this competition. In 2005, Mr. Farrell himself won the award for his endeavors in the solar technology industry. Building on inspiration from a high school science project, he would go on to establish Silicon Solar, Inc., a successful photovoltaics company based in Ithaca, New York. Mr. Farrell, along with his brother Matt Farrell, has since gone on to form SunMaxx Solar, the solar thermal division of Silicon Solar, Inc. Mr, Farrell has received the honor of being invited to be one of the judges for the final round of competition. Final round judging will take place on Thursday, November 18, with Gala Awards Dinner announcing the winner later on that same evening.

avwFm87mDz2011-02-15T21:56:37+00:00November 5, 2010 Thanks to $1.6 million in funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA), installation of energy efficient and renewable energy technologies was recently completed at the New Jersey Institute of Technology’s Oak Residence Hall. The project was approved by the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities and the U.S. Department of Energy as one of seven projects in the $20.6 million State Energy Program funded by ARRA. Upgrades to the building will reduce electrical energy use by an estimated 50 percent, and fossil fuel use by an estimated 40 percent. Among the technologies implemented is a SunMaxx solar thermal hot water heating system. Installed by Mechanical Degrees, Inc., the system consists of 37 SunMaxx ThermoPower-VHP30 evacuated tube solar collectors and incorporates a StorMaxx-NP 2,084 gallon non-pressurized tank for storage. Inside the tank are a total of 11 stacked 90 foot heat exchanger coils (two per stack); four for the solar loop and seven for the heating of the domestic hot water. Sixty-five percent of the energy needed to heat the building’s hot water is efficiently handled by the SunMaxx solar hot water heating system. According to Boris Shapiro, executive director of technical services and program project manager, the plan utilizes a number of innovative renewable energy and energy efficient technologies. “NJIT’s facilities team has created an energy improvement plan that utilizes an innovative mix of technology to upgrade operations and reduce the ecological footprint of this building,” Shapiro said. “We expect Oak Hall to emerge as a model building that can be used to introduce energy efficiency concepts to the state’s higher education community.” SunMaxx Solar is an industry leader in the manufacture and distribution of turnkey solar thermal solutions for domestic hot water and space heating systems.
