SunMaxx Solar announced today the company will soon be starting a large solar thermal system installation in the United States at the Los Angeles Air Force Base in Los Angeles, California. Scheduled to be completed by the middle of 2011, the installation will be for a domestic hot water and space heating system, and will be comprised of 96 SunMaxx ThermoPower-VHP30 evacuated tube solar collectors. avwFm87mDz2011-02-15T21:52:04+00:00Honda recently announced the winners of the first iDream Student Challenge at the 2010 Honda Initiation Grant (HIG) Technical Horizon Symposium in Columbus, Ohio. With a focus on technologies that advance the quality of human life, the iDream Student Challenge is a scholarship program designed to inspire new thinking to everyday challenges and foster a spirit of innovation among the leaders of tomorrow. This year's competition included 19 teams of Ohio State University science and engineering students, whose projects offered creative engineering solutions and innovative technologies in one of three categories: Electronics, Mobility, and Materials. A total of $60,000 in grant funding was awarded to the top three teams in each category. In the Mobility category, Solar Solutions, comprised of team members Brad Engel, Michael Nesteroff, and Jake Wither along with their faculty mentor, Professor Yann Guezennec, won first place with their project, "Solar Thermal Electric Car Charging Station". The project focused on designing a system that would utilize solar thermal technology to produce electricity to charge electric vehicles. The winning design has now moved into the production stage of its development. The Solar Solutions team will incorporate SunMaxx ThermoPower-VHP evacuated tube solar collectors and a SunMaxx solar thermal storage tank. The team also relied on data and technical information from SunMaxx Solar, which the team used as points of reference in their presentations. SunMaxx Solar bids on solar job at White House

Ithaca, NY - Friday October 8, 2010 SunMaxx Solar is pleased to announce that they are bidding on a solar collector project at the White House in Washington D.C. The installation in scheduled for spring 2011. Secretary of Energy Steven Chu said of the announcement, “This project reflects President Obama’s strong commitment to U.S. leadership in solar energy and the jobs it will create here at home. SunMaxx Solar Brings Solar Education to Utah Solar Tour
American Forks, UT - September 23, 2010 Over 400 students were in attendance at the Utah Solar Tour 2010. The event, sponsored by the Utah Solar Energy Association (UtSEA) was highlighted by the opening of the new Solar Educational Park. The park was created by TRA-Mage, Inc., a manufacturer of roof-mounting systems for solar panels. The students learned how the sun can turn on electric lights, heat a shower and purify water. This is the first year that UtSEA has offered tours for K-12 students, said executive director Levi Belnap. “We wanted students to see solar energy and touch it,” Belnap said. “This was an opportunity for kids, at a young age, to come out and see this is the future. There are career paths here that will be available.” In fact, students were able to meet Adam Farrell, CEO of SunMaxx Solar, whose entrepreneurial interests in solar power were inspired by a high school science project.
